About the Job:

• Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Location: Kennedy Road, Scarborough, ON
• Hourly Wage: $21.50/hour
• Shift Premium: Additional $1.50/hour for afternoon shifts
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, rotating shifts every two weeks: Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Please Note: Candidates must be available to work both day and afternoon shifts on a rotating two-week schedule.

Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Technician II performs routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and minor to intermediate repairs on various types of vehicles. Works with senior technicians on complex repairs and diagnostics while developing technical skills and maintaining productivity.

Essential Functions

• Perform preventive maintenance, vehicle inspections, and routine mechanical repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Identify defective components and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair brakes, tires, engines, steering, suspension, and driveline systems.
• Perform basic electrical, cooling, heating, A/C, and fuel system repairs.
• Inspect and service batteries, charging systems, liftgates, and vehicle coupling systems.
• Communicate with drivers and customers to identify vehicle concerns.
• Document all maintenance activities using the Shop Management System.
• Follow all applicable safety, regulatory, and company compliance requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform tire and wheel maintenance, including inspections and replacements.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, lubrication, fluid checks, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair basic hydraulic and air brake system issues.
• Assist senior technicians with complex repairs and diagnostics.
• Complete required training within 90 days, including Tire/Wheel Safety, Preventive Maintenance, Hydraulic and Air Brakes, and Heavy-Duty Electrical Systems, as applicable.
• Perform facility maintenance, Service Island support, and other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and computerized maintenance systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to workplace safety.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as required.
• Intermediate computer skills required.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma/GED preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred 
• Basic tools, required 
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
  - Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience preferred
• Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computers intermediate required
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
