Our Above Water Systems team provides engineering & maintenance services to Royal Australian Navy vessels and commercial ships. We’re proud to bolster Australia’s sovereign capability through operational support to our defence partners. YOUR ROLE

Located in Sydney at Woolloomooloo's Garden Island, on Gadigal land your role purpose is to commence and complete a traineeship in Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical) which is typically a 4-year traineeship. You will learn to perform a range of work including:

  • Installation of all types of naval equipment in shore and ship borne environments

  • Testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems on naval vessels

  • Fault analysis of commercial and military mechanical weapons equipment and systems

  • Conducting repairs to mechanical systems

YOUR EXPERIENCE

As a trainee, we'll expect you to bring the following experience, skills and behaviours:

  • Prior completion of Certificate III (in various trades from automotive, diesel mechanic to fabrication and fitting)

AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY

A Defence security clearance NV1 is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
