About this role

Company Description

Monarch Institute is an Australian Registered Training Organisation specialising in flexible online education. Since 2011, more than 35,000 students have studied with Monarch across a broad range of nationally recognised qualifications.

Our students come from all sorts of backgrounds. Some are entering a new industry; others are upskilling or formalising experience they already have. Our online model gives them the flexibility to study around work and life, with access to experienced trainers and assessors when they need support.

You’ll join an established remote team and have plenty of flexibility and autonomy in how you manage your work, while still having the support of other trainers and the wider Monarch team.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Description

Monarch Institute is looking for an Accounting Trainer & Assessor to join our online training team. You’ll support students completing nationally recognised accounting qualifications, working with them throughout their studies to assess their work, provide useful feedback and step in with additional support when they need it.

It’s a role that suits someone who knows their subject, has good judgement and enjoys working independently, while still being part of an experienced team.

You’ll primarily work with students studying:

  • FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping

  • FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting

You’ll assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback to help students understand what they need to do next. When students need additional help, you’ll support them by phone, email or video and help them work through questions or areas they’re finding difficult.

You’ll also contribute to the quality of our courses and assessment practices through validation and moderation, feedback on learning and assessment resources, and continuous improvement activities.

Because our delivery is online, you’ll have plenty of autonomy in managing your day and workload. You’ll need to be organised, comfortable working across different systems and able to balance assessment turnaround times with providing good support to students.

Qualifications

About you

We’re looking for someone with strong accounting knowledge and relevant industry experience. You’ll be confident across areas such as:

  • accounting and bookkeeping

  • BAS and GST

  • payroll

  • Xero and other computerised accounting systems.

You’ll also have:

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or an equivalent credential permitted under current regulatory requirements

  • relevant accounting qualifications and vocational competency

  • current and relevant industry knowledge

  • strong written communication skills and the ability to provide clear, useful feedback

  • good organisation and time management

  • confidence using technology and working in an online environment.

Previous training and assessment experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.

We’re particularly interested in someone who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of their workload, while also being willing to contribute ideas, share their expertise and work as part of the broader Monarch team.

Additional Information

  • Full-time and permanent
  • Remote based position

Questions about your identity help us appreciate the diversity of individuals looking to work with us, ensuring we’re attracting applications from people with identities and perspectives that are as diverse as our students.
