The Treasury Manager will play a key role in protecting and optimizing the firm’s financial resources by leading daily cash operations, banking activity, trust and escrow administration, payment controls, and treasury reporting. This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented treasury professional who enjoys combining hands-on operations with strategic problem solving, strong banking relationships, and meaningful collaboration across Finance and the firm. The Treasury Manager will serve as a trusted resource for cash flow management, banking operations, fraud prevention, and trust-related activity while helping strengthen processes that keep the firm running smoothly and responsibly.

Cash Management & Treasury Operations

  • Lead daily cash positioning across the firm’s bank accounts to ensure liquidity, accuracy, and timely funding.

  • Prepare and share clear daily cash reports that support informed decision-making.

  • Monitor balances, funding needs, and cash activity to anticipate requirements and resolve issues quickly.

  • Initiate and manage internal transfers and account funding with a focus on accuracy, controls, and efficiency.

  • Help safeguard firm assets by monitoring banking activity for unusual transactions, potential fraud risks, and operational concerns.

  • Identify opportunities to improve cash utilization, streamline banking processes, and strengthen treasury operations.

  • Provide thoughtful financial, operational, and treasury analyses to support Finance leadership and firm priorities.

Banking Administration & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the firm’s primary contact for banking partners and build productive, responsive relationships.

  • Manage bank account administration, including openings, closures, signer updates, and online banking access.

  • Coordinate new banking products and treasury services that support secure, efficient operations.

  • Partner with banks and internal teams to resolve inquiries, returned items, fraud alerts, and service issues.

  • Review banking fees, service levels, and process needs to recommend practical improvements.

Payment Controls & Approval Management

  • Review vendor payments and employee reimbursements before bank processing to support accuracy and compliance.

  • Review and approve wires, ACH payments, and other cash disbursements in accordance with firm controls.

  • Oversee foreign and international payment transactions with careful attention to timing, documentation, and risk.

Trust & Escrow Administration

  • Oversee daily trust and escrow account activity across multiple jurisdictions and banking institutions.

  • Monitor client trust balances and ensure deposits, transfers, and disbursements are recorded properly.

  • Work closely with attorneys and staff on trust-related transactions, questions, and follow-up needs.

  • Review and process approved third-party payments from trust and escrow accounts with precision and care.

Reconciliations & Financial Controls

  • Support timely resolution of bank reconciliation exceptions and aged reconciling items.

  • Research outstanding deposits, checks, and unidentified transactions to help maintain accurate records.

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by providing timely, well-organized documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in treasury, cash management, banking, accounting, or a closely related finance function.

  • Experience managing multiple bank accounts, online banking tools, and payment platforms.

  • Trust or escrow accounting experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of banking operations, ACH, wire transfers, positive pay, payment controls, and fraud prevention practices.

  • Strong Excel, reporting, and financial analysis skills, with the ability to turn details into useful insights.

  • High attention to detail and sound judgment when handling high-volume, time-sensitive transactions.

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach.

This is an exempt position based in either our DC or Chicago offices. The anticipated good-faith base salary range for this position is:

  • $91,000 to $125,000 per year.

Your exact offer will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, your experience, skills, and overall qualifications.  We also review compensation regularly against industry benchmarks and performance outcomes, so you can grow your career here with confidence—knowing your pay recognizes both your impact and our commitment to an equitable approach.

In addition to a competitive base salary, certain positions are eligible for a comprehensive performance-based bonus, payable monthly or annually.

Benefits

We know that the needs of our employees vary and can change throughout the different stages of life.  That’s why we offer a wide array of flexible benefit options designed to help you live healthy, live well, and live for tomorrow.  In addition to medical, dental, vision, profit-sharing, generous paid time off, and numerous other benefits, we also provide a flexible reimbursement account that helps pay for the things that contribute to your personal well-being, in your own way.

* The job description is a general summary of the major duties.  It may not specify all duties, tasks, and assignments associated with a job.  It does not limit or in any way modify the right of management to direct, assign, and control the work of employees in a unit.  Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and ability to work in an atmosphere of multiple projects and shifting priorities are requirements of all jobs at ArentFox Schiff LLP.  Additional job-related qualifications may be specified for some openings.  Job descriptions are subject to periodic review and modification.
