What you'll do
- Operate various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and dozers, for underground utility installation, maintenance, and repair projects.
- Dig trenches, excavate foundations, and prepare sites according to project plans and specifications.
- Backfill excavations, compact soil, and grade surfaces to required elevations.
- Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks and trailers.
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment, identifying and reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate execution of work.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other personnel on job sites.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with other construction tasks as needed.

- Must live near Austin, TX area
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in an underground utility construction environment.
- Proven ability to safely and proficiently operate excavators, backhoes, and trenchers.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL Class A or B preferred.
- Knowledge of underground utility construction practices and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of trenching and excavation safety regulations.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous physical labor.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
