What you'll do

  • Company memos. Why a company is interesting, who belongs in the round, and what would have to be true for it to fail.
  • Sector work. What is heating up, what is over owned, and the evidence behind both.
  • Investor research. Who is actually active, in what, at what stage, and what they are known for.
  • The published version of all of it, plus the pieces written for family offices and early stage founders that go out from the founders' accounts.

What they're looking for

  • Already follow this market closely because you enjoy it. You can name the rounds from this quarter and say which ones you think are wrong.
  • Already write and research in this space, and turn that into memos or articles yourself.
  • Get the facts right. A wrong fund name, round size or attribution costs credibility we cannot buy back.
  • Use AI every day, and know where it should go nowhere near your work. Good judgement and taste on where it makes you faster, and where it degrades what you put out.

Full description from employer

We are hiring a VC Analyst Intern to research the market and write what we find.

Pairs is a global network of family offices, institutional investors, VCs and angels. We screen deal flow very tightly, and the ones that clear our diligence go out to the network. We invest alongside them too.

The role

Why is this company worth a look, and why now? Is this sector heating up, or is everyone already late to it? Which investor actually belongs in this round, and which one is only circling?

You answer those in writing. Every piece of work here is a memo. A view, the reasoning underneath it, and the part you are not sure about said out loud. The ones that hold up get published on our LinkedIn, the blog on our site, the newsletter and our X.

You also write for the two audiences we sell to. A family office and a pre seed founder want different things from the same piece of news, and a lot of what you write goes out from the founders' own accounts, in their voice.

You work with the two co-founders directly, and with our Head of Brand once that seat is filled. The org is very flat, so you learn straight from us how we screen, what we pass on and why.

This is a paid internship built to grow into a full time seat. We are looking for someone who already follows this market closely, has opinions about it, and wants to spend the next few years writing about it properly.

What you will own

  • Company memos. Why a company is interesting, who belongs in the round, and what would have to be true for it to fail.

  • Sector work. What is heating up, what is over owned, and the evidence behind both.

  • Investor research. Who is actually active, in what, at what stage, and what they are known for.

  • The published version of all of it, plus the pieces written for family offices and early stage founders that go out from the founders' accounts.

You are a fit if you

  • Already follow this market closely because you enjoy it. You can name the rounds from this quarter and say which ones you think are wrong.

  • Already write and research in this space, and turn that into memos or articles yourself.

  • Get the facts right. A wrong fund name, round size or attribution costs credibility we cannot buy back.

  • Use AI every day, and know where it should go nowhere near your work. Good judgement and taste on where it makes you faster, and where it degrades what you put out.

What we offer

Remote and async.

  • Close contact with the co-founders and our Head of Brand directly.

  • Close contact with our internal team.

  • Our network of highly established investors and the top deals out there.

  • Access to our internal processes, and to how we screen deal flow.

  • Learning very closely from all of us.
