About this role
Animal Blessings Pet Hospital is seeking a float Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career Veterinary Assistant who enjoys variety and wants to build a well-rounded skillset in a busy veterinary practice. As a float assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to support different areas of the hospital, including patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.
We’re looking for dependable, motivated team members who are eager to learn, work well in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy being part of a collaborative team. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience, develop their veterinary skills, and grow within the profession.
In this position, you will take an active role in:
- Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
- Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
- Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
- Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
- Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
Schedule and compensation:
- Compensation: $18 - $21 per hour, for each hour worked
- This is a full-time position, with a 5/8 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday. No weekends!

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- 2+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
- Proficiency in the following skills:
- Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs, cats, avian, reptiles, and pocket pets of varying sizes and temperaments
- Ability to assist with exams, treatments and outpatient procedures
- Assist with follow up calls, filling medications, and refill request
- Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
- Assist with prepping patients for anesthetic procedures and dentals
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
