About the role

 

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Trade Manager to join our Becks Mitre 10 Launceston store.

 

Reporting to the Store Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the store's trade operation. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for trade performance, inventory management, workforce planning, transport operations, safety and team development.

 

Working with a large and diverse team, including the Transport Manager and trade team members, you will play an important role in delivering outstanding customer service, supporting operational performance and developing team capability.

 

This role would suit someone who enjoys problem solving, supporting people and working in a fast-paced trade environment.

 

 

What you will be doing

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the trade department.
• Support trade sales performance while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Prepare team rosters and oversee workforce planning.
• Coach and develop team members to build capability and performance.
• Work closely with the Transport Manager to support efficient delivery operations.
• Oversee inventory management, stock accuracy and stock flow processes.
• Promote safe work practices and contribute to a positive safety culture.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.

 

What you will bring

• Previous supervisory, department management or store management experience within retail, trade, hardware, building supplies or a related industry.
• A hands-on leadership style and the ability to support and develop team members.
• Experience managing rosters, operational processes and inventory.
• Ability to balance customer service, operational priorities and commercial outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Trade, hardware or building supplies experience is desirable.
• Experience in transport or logistics and a forklift licence will be highly regarded.
