Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position

You will join Capital Power as a Financial Analyst and a member of the Capital Power finance team. You will be part of Capital Power’s Financial Development & Accreditation Program (FDAP). This innovative CPA pre-approved development program provides on-the-job training that will prepare you for challenging assignments within the organization and an exciting career with Capital Power. 


During the program, you will rotate through a minimum of three different areas within the Finance department, spending approximately a year in each position. This program will provide you with a broad range of experience where you will be developing a variety of skills. This could include rotations in  financial planning and analysis, corporate tax, operational accounting/reporting, external financial reporting, or internal audit.

This program offers you not only the technical skills required but also opportunities for you to develop communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The skillset obtained during these three years will meet the practical experience required to obtain your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. 

CPA Assistance

In addition to offering a progressive career advancement program, Capital Power provides various areas of support to assist the candidate to being successful in obtaining their CPA.

  • Full financial support, including CFE preparation course funding

  • Additional notes and practice exams from Densmore Consulting Services Inc.

  • A paid flex day a month that can be used for study

  • 5 additional annual paid flex days, in addition to annual vacation

  • Additional paid study time for the CFE

  • A support group consisting of current students and recent CPA graduates

  • Individual mentor to assist you throughout the three-year program

Additionally, this opportunity provides a competitive remuneration and benefits package, an annual incentive program, and optional participation into a personal savings plan with company-matched contributions.

Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Business/Commerce degree (including all prerequisites to immediately enter the CPA PEP program).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Hours of Work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

Working Conditions:

Hybrid Office/Work from home position, Tuesday to Thursday’s in the Office, Monday and Friday at home except when office presence is necessary.

Capital Power will continue to qualify under the CPA pre-approved program route (PPR) and is committed to employees' success under the new CPA Professional Program being launched in 2027
