Full description from employer

Company Description

Every institution values excellence. What matters most is why.
Griffith was created to be a different type of university. You’ll find we’re about leading research, academic excellence, and the transformative power of education.

When you join the Griffith Film School, you’ll be part of a team that supports other staff, students and researchers working to make it a brighter future.  We promise a supportive and friendly environment where you’ll collaborate to make an impact.

Job Description

As our Administration and Events Officer, you'll be the connector between Griffith Film School, our students, and the wider world. Your mission? To orchestrate unforgettable experiences and keep our operations running smoothly.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Bringing events to life: Co-ordinate and deliver a fantastic array of engagement activities—from GFS Experience Week (for school-aged participants) to Orientation for our commencing Film School students, plus our spectacular end-of-year Showcase and Gala, conferences, and beyond. You'll be the creative force turning ideas into reality.
  • Mastering the digital space: Leverage your Social Media and Website skills to amplify our reach and keep our community engaged and connected. (Don't worry if you're still building these skills—we love enthusiastic learners)
  • Keeping the wheels turning: Provide essential administrative support to keep Griffith Film School's day-to-day operations flowing seamlessly. You'll work with corporate systems like Peoplesoft and the Microsoft 365 suite.  You don't need to have used these systems, but if you're tech-savvy enough to pick them up quickly, even better
  • Going the extra mile: As some of our events happen outside standard hours, we're looking for someone flexible and willing to embrace overtime, flex time, or time off in-lieu. We'll make sure you're looked after.

About you
We'd love to hear from you if you've got relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communication, public relations, project management or event management. But don't worry if your background is a bit different—what really matters is that you've got proven experience in planning, coordinating and delivering complex projects, events and/or engagement activities. Whether you've studied it formally or learned it on the job, we're keen to meet someone who's passionate about bringing events to life.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating events and engagement activities that enhance student, community and stakeholder participation.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute to the effective operation of a busy academic unit.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, industry representatives and external partners.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in digital technologies, including social media, website content management and business software applications.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgement, adaptability and a strong commitment to customer service in a higher education environment.
