About the role:

MUFG, a globally respected financial institution, is seeking an Analyst or Associate to join their Australian Corporates, Credit Management team based in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth. In this role, you will play a key role in Oceania’s Credit Management team (CM) which sits within Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) division, supporting the origination and management of new and existing corporate and institutional customers, as well as offshore subsidiaries.

The broader CM team plays an important role in achieving the Bank’s risk and return targets through conducting annual credit reviews and credit monitoring in accordance with the Bank’s internal procedures and delivering on a number of strategic and balance sheet focused tasks and assessments.

You will be an integral part of this function through the successful completion of a range of day to day tasks, including: the management of customer credit & portfolio related requests, periodic review of customer credit and risk profiles, supporting the Relationship Managers and Portfolio Leads on the credit approval process of new transactions (incorporating deal structuring, preparing credit submissions, historical and forward looking financial and industry analysis etc.), the preparation of client presentations and managing compliance with internal processes and policies as well as other ad hoc support for Relationship Managers and the Head of CM.

What you’ll be doing:

The successful candidate will be responsible for credit analysis and risk management across a portfolio of clients, with a focus on credit quality and achievement of the Bank’s risk / return targets through:

What we are looking for:

  • Analyst (1 to 3 years’ experience) / Associate (4 to 7 years’ experience) gained from corporate and institutional lending or debt advisory roles at major banks or chartered accounting firms. Candidates from credit rating agencies, advisory houses, investment management firms or corporate treasury teams with relevant skills will also be considered.
  • Undergraduate Business / Commerce / Law Degree is essential. Masters of Finance, MBA or CFA will be considered favourably.
  • Proficiency in the full suite of core Microsoft products. Comfort using data, research and AI-enabled tools (such as Copilot) to enhance analytical quality, efficiency and insight generation will be viewed favourably.
  • Possess an understanding of financial and economic markets
  • Experience in: (a) credit writing; (b) financial analysis and modelling; and (c) legal documentation and debt structuring
  • Be able to engage in independent research and analysis of customers and markets and apply critical thinking and a high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrate curiosity about businesses, industries and market dynamics, and apply this understanding to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • The ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
  • Has strong interpersonal and presentation skills
