About this role

The Opportunity

Are you someone who loves uncovering insights hidden in data? We’re looking for an Analyst, Business Analysis to join our Finance team within Insurance Services. In this role, you’ll collaborate with teams across AMA to turn complex information into meaningful insights that help guide sound business decisions. You’ll analyze trends, process and products, and bring clarity to big questions — all while helping us make smarter, data-driven choices that serve our members better. In this role, you will also be supporting the corporate reserving function, to support informed business decisions across pricing, underwriting, reinsurance, and capital management.

A Place to Belong

AMA is more than a workplace; it’s a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members—everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive salary and flexible benefits

  • Employer-paid retirement savings program

  • Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, and more

  • Free travel medical insurance for you and your immediate family

  • Ongoing professional development

  • Paid vacation and personal days, including a Volunteer Day and Me Day

  • Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle

Who You Are

  • A curious, analytical thinker who loves solving complex problems with data.

  • A strong communicator who can translate numbers into meaningful business stories.

  • Naturally collaborative — you enjoy working across teams to find solutions that make an impact.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and confident managing multiple priorities.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment where innovation and teamwork drive results.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Provide data-driven support to guide action-oriented business decisions across AMA.

  • Analyze and interpret data from multiple sources to identify key trends and opportunities.

  • Develop and manage high-quality dashboards and reporting solutions that serve as a single source of truth.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and IT teams to gather, validate, and refine business requirements.

  • Present findings and insights to leadership teams in clear, compelling ways.

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of critical data.

  • Support the rollout of new business analytics tools and processes.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in actuarial analysis, business intelligence, business analysis, or a related technical role.

  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL (including complex query writing).

  • Experience developing and managing BI solutions or dashboards using Power BI or similar tools.

  • Strong data visualization and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.

  • Familiarity with data management languages (Python, R) and experience in the insurance industry are strong assets.

  • Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.

  • Actuarial reserving experience would be an asset.

Belonging Matters Here
