We are currently hiring a Journeyperson Welder in our Cranbrook shop.

• Wage: $36.29 -$ 39.09 depending on apprentice level
• Overtime paid as double time
• Shift: 4x3 compressed shift
• Paid Time Off in Year 1: Vacation & Sick time

Job Description:

• Maintain and repair Caterpillar Construction Equipment, Mining Equipment and Expanded Mining Equipment
• Component rebuild and repair
• Some Manufacturing
• Perform routine maintenance work
• Occasional work at heights and confined spaces
• Frequent bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting/pushing of up to 45 pounds without assistance
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required

Qualifications

• Second year Apprentice Welder
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Strong welding aptitude: vertical, flat, and overhead test for both SMAW and FCAW, machining experience is beneficial
• Repair welding would be considered an asset
• Strong line boring experience will be considered an asset

Important Details

• This position is based in our Cranbrook branch on a 4x3 shift with potential to switch to a 7x7 shift
• A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
• Field work may be required

Union Membership: This is a unionized position.  Union dues will be deducted from your pay upon hire.  Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
