  • Participate in periodic Great Hearts professional development activities with other Heads of School and the faculty of other academies at the discretion of the Headmaster.

Position Summary: The Assistant Headmaster manages academic, instructional, and disciplinary matters at the school, as requested by the Headmaster, and acts as an essential liaison for families, students, faculty, and staff regarding student academic performance. He or she is an experienced liberal arts instructor and leader with an extensive knowledge of providing a Great Books core curriculum to children and/or teenagers. He/she reports directly to the headmaster, and coordinates with relevant Great Hearts Lead Office staff regarding academic and instructional matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Headmaster to lead the local Community Investment and annual Tax Credit Drive programs.
  • Participates with the Headmaster in an annual evaluation of his/her performance and accomplishments.
  • May need to teach or substitute when necessary.
  • Manage and maintain the schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements for the HM or lead staff, as requested.
  • Works with Headmaster to provide for the safe and orderly environment of the school by establishing and maintaining standards of conduct.
  • Reads, knows, and supports the philosophy, policies, procedures and other pertinent data of the school as published in the Faculty Handbook and most current Family Handbook.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including the Academy Crisis Plan, for ensuring the safety and security of students on campus.

Required/Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree at minimum.

Required/Preferred Experience: Experience as a liberal arts instructor and knowledge of providing a Great Books core curriculum.

Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.

US Work Authorization is required.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
