What you'll do

  • Franchise development and client coverage. Support the Head of Financial Sponsors, APAC in building and developing Santander CIB's Financial Sponsors franchise across Asia Pacific, with a focus on leading global and regional Financial Sponsors.
  • Origination. Develop a detailed understanding of priority sponsor clients, their funds, investment strategies and portfolio companies; proactively identify financing, advisory and broader CIB opportunities and contribute ideas to senior client dialogue.
  • Coverage planning. Maintain client plans, relationship maps, transaction pipelines, wallet/opportunity analysis and relevant market intelligence for priority sponsor relationships.
  • Transaction execution. Work closely with relevant product teams to originate and execute transactions, including financial analysis and modelling, valuation, credit analysis, preparation of internal approval materials, due diligence and transaction documentation.
  • Global connectivity. Coordinate with Santander's Global Banking and product teams across the Santander network to deliver the Bank's global capabilities to sponsor clients and identify cross-border opportunities.
  • Marketing and client materials. Prepare high-quality presentations, pitches, client briefings, market updates and transaction materials for senior client discussions.
  • Internal coordination. Work across product, credit, risk and other control functions to drive opportunities efficiently through Santander's internal processes.
  • Business management. Support strategic planning, pipeline and revenue tracking, portfolio reviews and other initiatives required to build the franchise.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, financial sponsors coverage, leveraged / acquisition finance, infrastructure / structured finance, M&A or other relevant corporate finance roles.
  • Strong grounding in corporate finance, credit and financial analysis, with solid financial modelling, valuation and accounting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the origination and execution of complex transactions, working effectively with product specialists, global sector teams, risk teams and other internal stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial mindset and client orientation, with genuine interest in developing sponsor relationships, identifying business opportunities and growing into a broader client coverage role.
  • Intellectually curious, with the ability to develop a strong understanding of sponsor investment strategies, portfolio companies, sector trends and the broader private capital landscape.
  • Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to take ownership, exercise sound judgement and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and maturity to interact effectively with senior internal stakeholders and clients across different geographies and cultures.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work across teams in different locations.
  • Fluency in English is required.
