Position Summary

We are seeking an accomplished academic professional for the role of Associate Professor – Computer Science. The role combines academic excellence, teaching, research, curriculum development, and contribution to the growth of Computer Science programmes.

The incumbent will contribute to high-quality academic delivery, curriculum innovation, and research development in Computer Science, while supporting the development of a strong academic environment aligned with the global standards of the University of Liverpool.

The role demands a strong commitment to research-informed teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of future-ready graduates equipped with advanced technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Excellence & Programme Development

• Contribute to academic delivery and development of Computer Science programmes.

• Support the continuous development and enhancement of academic programmes in alignment with institutional goals.

• Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Contribute to academic mentoring and development activities.

Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Design

• Lead and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

• Design, review, and enhance curricula aligned with global academic standards.

• Promote innovative teaching methodologies, including digital learning and experiential education.

• Ensure strong alignment with outcome-based education frameworks.

Research & Scholarly Activity

• Maintain an active research profile with high-quality publications.

• Contribute to research in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related fields.

• Promote research-informed teaching across programmes.

• Support research collaborations, grants, and industry engagement.

Industry Engagement

• Develop and strengthen industry-academic linkages within Computer Science.

• Support experiential learning through projects, laboratories, and industry-oriented learning.

• Integrate emerging technologies and industry trends into teaching and curriculum development.

• Encourage innovation and collaboration with industry and external stakeholders.

Quality Assurance & Institutional Contribution

• Participate in academic quality assurance, accreditation, and benchmarking processes.

• Ensure compliance with University academic policies and standards.

• Support student engagement, mentoring, and academic progression.

Essential Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline from a recognised or globally reputed university.

• Academic experience at Associate Professor level or equivalent.

• Strong teaching record in higher education.

• Eligibility or commitment to achieve HEA Fellowship or equivalent teaching qualification.

• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and academic contribution.

Skills & Experience

• Proven record of excellence in teaching and research in Computer Science.

• Strong publication record in reputed journals and conferences.

• Experience in curriculum development and academic programme enhancement.

• Ability to integrate emerging industry trends into curriculum design.
