BD Application Engineer

Position Summary

The BD Application Engineer drives business growth for ZEISS SMT solutions in Mainland China by identifying customer needs and leading and executing pre-sales, NPI, competitive, and localization initiatives. Working closely with mask shop and wafer fab customers, the role translates market and application insights into product and solution inputs, connects customers with local and HQ teams, and accelerates product qualification, adoption, and repeat-buy opportunities.

Main Tasks

Business Development & Customer Engagement 

• Support pre-sales activities including customer requirement analysis, config & specification discussions, solution positioning, product demonstrations, and product roadmap communication.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders through regular engagement and technical discussions.
• Identify customer needs, business opportunities, and technology trends, and coordinate related actions within ZEISS.

New Product Introduction & Competitive Projects

• Lead and execute new product introduction (NPI) and competitive projects, driving successful product qualification, adoption, and repeat-buy opportunities.
• Understand and customer demand and align ZEISS solutions with customer business and technical requirements.
• Coordinate cross-functional resources, especially the counterpart at HQ strategic marketing, to ensure effective project execution and customer success,

Solution Development & Localization

• Translate customer requirements and application feedback into solution concepts, product enhancement proposals, and roadmap inputs.
• Support local solution development, validation, and deployment to address regional customer needs.
• Support solution localization based on the co-work with HQ strategic and product teams.

Market Intelligence & Product Marketing

• Collect and analyze customer, market, technology, and competitor intelligence to support business growth and strategic decision-making.
• Provide market and customer insights for product strategy, feature development, and business planning.
• Support product launches, customer workshops, conferences, and other marketing activities in accordance with ZEISS branding guidelines

Requirements

Education

Master’s degree and above, majored in Engineering of Microelectronics, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Optics and related fields.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years application / process engineering experience in Semiconductor Industry Litho or Photomask related field, R&D experience at e-beam or optical equipment is a plus
• Good manner of English in reading, writing and speaking
• Experience of Project management and / or customer management
