Senior Business Analyst – Sustainable Energy - Up to £700/day Outside IR35

A Senior Business Analyst with strong energy, trading or commercial product experience is needed for a fast-growing organisation operating at the heart of the UK energy market, supporting the transition towards net zero and a more sustainable energy system.

The organisation’s technology platform supports the full commercial lifecycle across sales, products and pricing, renewals, customer trading and trading desk activity, including the buy-side trading and portfolio management of commodities, renewable certificates, power and gas purchase agreements.

With the energy market evolving rapidly through the growth of renewable generation, changing trading models and the wider drive towards net zero, the focus of this Senior Business Analyst role is to help shape and deliver the product and system capabilities required to operate effectively in this changing market.

Working closely with the Product Manager, Product Owner, UX, Development and QA teams, you will take ownership of features from early discovery through to production. As the Senior Business Analyst, you will work closely with internal stakeholders across trading, commercial, sales and operations, understanding their challenges, identifying the underlying business problem and translating these into practical technology solutions.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be expected to challenge low-value requirements, using data, stakeholder insight and evidence to establish where investment will deliver genuine business value. You’ll take ownership of the backlog, facilitate refinement, break down complex requirements into deliverable stories and ensure the development team has the clarity needed to deliver effectively.

You’ll also play an important Business Analyst role in understanding how changes to the energy market — particularly around renewables, sustainability, energy transition and net-zero objectives — may impact the products, processes and technology supporting the business.

The successful Senior Business Analyst will act as a key link between the business and technology teams, translating complex commercial requirements into clear, actionable specifications and ensuring that ambiguity is resolved before it reaches development.
