Job Title: Cash Equities Settlements Associate

Role Overview:

Servicing as the primary governance and oversight lead for Nomura’s offshore cash equities settlements team in India-Powai, the incumbent ensures seamless post-trade operations across APAC markets. A key focus will be supervising offshore teams, enabling cross-border collaboration, and leveraging data insights to streamline settlement process, mitigating control gaps, and improving client experience.

The incumbent will also perform daily BAU concerning asset servicing, payments, client asset segregation, and bank reconciliations and is expected to drive process efficiency, risk mitigation, and automation by analyzing post-trade data.

This role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment which requires the ability to adapt to the evolving needs of both internal and external clients. Teamwork is a vital component of this role, as it requires building and nurturing strong relationships both within the team and with other internal Nomura teams.

 

Role Description:

Control and Analytics

• Prepare and review daily KRI, set up post trade data analysis framework, and provide relevant management updates
• Manage interaction and relationships with stakeholders, regulators, audit, and service providers
• Work with offshore teams to design and implement supervisory framework to ensure timely risks identification, resolution, and escalation
• Analyze current BAU processes and workflows to identify opportunities for enhancement.  Develop and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, controls, and client experience

Offshore Governance

• Responsible for overseeing cash equities trade settlements in APAC markets
• Facilitate offshore teams to identify, investigate, and resolve settlement discrepancies
• Collaborate with various departments to provide support on matters related to reconciliations, payments, settlements, financial analysis, and reporting
• Involve in ad-hoc projects and process improvement

Settlement and Cash Management:

• Perform asset servicing activities due to fail settlement, stock borrow, and irregular settlement cycle
• Effect external and intracompany payments concerning corporate action entitlements, FX settlement, funding, and margin
• Identify client assets for timing segregation
• Perform bank reconciliation, which includes identifying and resolving discrepancies between ledger and statement

 

Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:

• Bachelor in Accounting/ Finance or equivalent and knowledge of Cash equities markets
• Minimum of 5 year in financial services industry preferred in Sell side operations or custody operations
• Technical knowledge of asset servicing is a strong plus
• Track record of delivering analytics and automation is a strong plus
• Professional qualification preferred but not a must
• Good team player, proactive and able to adapt quickly
• Highly committed, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills, fluency in English and Cantonese is required
• High regard for attention to detail, accuracy and quality
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (programming knowledge is a plus)
• Knowledge of tools such as python, AI and automation tools such as Alteryx will be an advantage
• Knowledge in settlement or payment system transaction flows
