What you'll do

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting function, while remaining hands-on with key accounting activities and financial processes.
  • Manage and develop the Bookkeeper, providing direction, oversight, and appropriate checks and balances.
  • Oversee contract billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
  • Review financial transactions and reconciliations for accuracy and investigate discrepancies or unusual activity.
  • Lead the monthly close process and ensure financials are accurate and completed on a timely basis.
  • Review the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow each month, identify trends or discrepancies, and determine the appropriate action needed.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP and company standards.
  • Handle more complex accounting responsibilities, including year-end adjustments and other technical accounting matters.
  • Understand and manage the company's unique accounting structure, including separate payables associated with independent contractors as well as traditional business/vendor payables.
  • Provide financial insight and reporting to office leadership, helping translate financial information into actionable business decisions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

About City Wide

City Wide Facility Solutions is a leading provider of commercial facility services, supporting businesses with comprehensive janitorial and facility maintenance solutions. The Richmond office is a growing operation with approximately $24–25 million in annual revenue and a strong opportunity for continued growth.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting function for our Richmond operation. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable managing the bigger financial picture and getting into the details when needed.

The Controller will oversee a small accounting team, currently consisting of one Bookkeeper, and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial operations. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 1–2+ years of Controller experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to independently identify and resolve issues within the financials.

Benefits

Compensation & Growth

Salary: $100,000–$120,000, based on experience and qualifications, with a bonus program currently being developed.
