What you'll do

  • Processes medical student rotation applications, schedule changes, and attending evaluations of medical students.
  • Addresses inquiries from medical students, faculty, staff, and hospital affiliates and provides general administrative support for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine professional degree program.
  • Assists in carrying out curriculum for clerkship courses.
  • Compiles and utilizes all current policies and systems to carry out administrative support to the clerkship program.
  • Provides support to the MSUCOM Academic Programs unit administering the clerkship program in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine professional degree.
  • Processes and approves applications, adhering to University and program requirements, processes affiliation agreements in support of visiting clinical training sites
  • Maintains the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) and uploads supporting documents for student participation
  • Participates in the development, completion, assignment and changes of clerkship student schedules
  • Receives, review and posts clinical performance evaluations adhering to the College Policy for Retention, Promotion and Graduation
  • Collaborates and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents daily to problem solve
  • Proctors monthly Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Achievement Test (COMAT)
  • Assists in the student clerkship educational sessions and orientations, which will include travel within Michigan

Position Summary

Basic Function

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Education, Health Education, Educational Administration or a related field; six months to one to year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience and knowledge of curriculum in the area of employment; word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Detail-oriented and attention to accuracy; self-starter with strong organizational skills; high level of critical thinking; ability to ensu re confidentiality and security of student records; excellent interpers onal and written/verbal communication skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize complex assignments in a fast-paced environment; meet deadl ines with many interruptions; ability to work independently and in coop eration with other team members while providing quality service to stud ents, faculty and staff; completion of Microsoft Suite Certificate to d emonstrate required proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with Outlook e-mail and calendaring systems; familiarity w ith SharePoint document storage; experience or ability to learn various COM-specific database program systems; experience in auditing and form atting reports; knowledge of or ability to learn MSU policies, procedur es and systems (D2L, University Registrar systems, Medtrics, Campus Sol utions); experience with scheduling and managing virtual meeting platfo rms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams; preferred 4-year college degree a nd/or previous experience in medical education; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in maintaining account ledgers, departmental operations, employment, or in performing tasks related to the area of employment.
