Director, Global Travel & Expense Management

Location: Miami, FL (Hybrid)

Lead the Future of Global Travel at World Fuel

World Fuel is seeking an experienced travel leader to oversee and evolve our global travel and expense program.

As Director, Global Travel & Expense Management, you will be responsible for the strategy, governance, technology, supplier partnerships, traveler experience, policy management, and operational performance of a complex global program supporting employees across multiple countries and business units.

Reporting to the Head of Indirect Procurement, this highly visible leadership role will drive the ongoing transformation of World Fuel's travel and expense ecosystem while delivering a best-in-class experience for travelers, improving compliance, strengthening duty of care, and optimizing costs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a travel industry professional who enjoys driving change, leading global initiatives, partnering with senior executives, and building scalable programs that support business growth.

What You'll Do

Lead Our Global Travel Program

  • Own the strategy, governance, and performance of World Fuel's global travel program.
  • Serve as the executive point of contact for travel-related initiatives, escalations, and program enhancements.
  • Ensure travel services are cost-effective, compliant, traveler-focused, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Drive initiatives that improve traveler experience, support business needs, and increase program value.

Drive Travel Technology & Transformation

  • Lead ongoing optimization of travel and expense platforms, including implementation, governance, testing, adoption, and change management.
  • Partner with IT, Finance, HR, Security, and external providers to enhance system capabilities and user experience.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency across the travel ecosystem.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement across travel and expense technologies.

Own Travel Policy, Compliance & Duty of Care

  • Maintain and evolve the global travel policy and governance framework.
  • Partner with Security, HR, Risk, and business leaders to support traveler safety and crisis management programs.
  • Monitor policy compliance, exceptions, and adoption trends.
  • Ensure global travel practices align with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Manage Strategic Supplier Partnerships

  • Lead relationships with travel management companies, booking platforms, airlines, hotels, ground transportation providers, and travel payment partners.
  • Partner with Procurement to negotiate contracts and optimize supplier performance.
  • Establish service level expectations and measure supplier effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve compliance, and maximize program benefits.

Leverage Data to Drive Better Decisions

  • Develop meaningful KPIs, management reporting, and governance processes.
  • Analyze travel spend, booking behavior, supplier performance, traveler satisfaction, policy compliance, and program utilization.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations that improve business outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance and business leaders to forecast travel demand and support long-term planning.

Lead Expense & Travel Payment Programs

  • Own the corporate card and travel payment strategy.
  • Manage card issuance, compliance, delinquency management, disputes, controls, and traveler support.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and Accounts Payable to optimize payment solutions and reporting.
  • Evaluate emerging capabilities including virtual cards, automation, and enhanced payment technologies.

Provide Executive-Level Leadership

  • Serve as the trusted advisor to senior leaders on travel strategy, spend management, policy, and traveler experience.
  • Lead and develop global travel administration resources and supporting teams.
  • Influence stakeholders across business functions and geographies to drive successful outcomes.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading a global corporate travel program.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing:
    • Travel Management Companies (TMCs)
    • Online Booking Tools (Concur, Navan, or similar platforms)
    • Corporate card and travel payment programs
  • Proven experience leading travel technology implementations and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of travel policy, governance, risk management, duty of care, and compliance.
  • Deep knowledge of airline, hotel, GDS, NDC, and travel supplier commercial models.
  • Exceptional supplier management, negotiation, and strategic sourcing capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into business decisions.
  • Ability to effectively influence senior stakeholders across global organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing global travel programs within a complex multinational organization.
  • Experience with travel and expense transformation initiatives.
  • Experience leading outsourced providers and global cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Supply Chain, Travel Management, Finance, or a related field.
