What you'll be doing

At Simplii Financial, we're redefining how Canadians move money by building robust, scalable payments platforms that simplify complex processes and anticipate future needs. As the Director, Product Owner – Payments Infrastructure & Transaction Processing, you'll lead the vision, roadmap, and delivery priorities for Simplii’s payments infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for ensuring reliable, transparent, and efficient money movement across digital and assisted channels, overseeing integration with payment hubs, card processors, rail providers, and reconciliation systems. Your role will involve translating business goals, regulatory mandates, and operational pain points into actionable product outcomes, partnering closely with technology, architecture, operations, risk, finance, and external vendors. You’ll drive modernization efforts, streamline platform architecture, and ensure the payments infrastructure is resilient, compliant, and positioned for innovation.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You can effectively perform all work activities remotely, and will only be required to be on-site on an occasional basis.

How you'll succeed

  • Payments Infrastructure Product Ownership – Define and refine the product vision for Simplii’s payments platform, balancing reliability, scalability, compliance, and cost efficiency.

  • Transaction Processing & Integration – Translate business and regulatory priorities into a clear roadmap, managing integrations with payment hubs, processors, card networks, rail providers, and finance systems.

  • Modernization & Architecture Simplification – Lead the discovery and delivery of payments modernization initiatives, reducing duplication and complexity while enhancing platform resilience and extensibility.

  • Reconciliation & Operational Excellence – Develop and maintain capabilities for payments reconciliation, settlement, and operational visibility, ensuring compliance with regulatory and scheme requirements.

  • Backlog Ownership & Agile Leadership – Manage the squad backlog, lead agile ceremonies, and provide transparent roadmap updates to senior leaders and delivery teams.

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement – Act as the product decision-maker, partnering with internal teams and external vendors to translate requirements into deliverable outcomes.

Who you are

  • You’re a technically strong platform product leader. You bring deep knowledge of payments infrastructure and can challenge architecture, operations, and engineering decisions to drive optimal outcomes.

  • You’re a decisive product owner. You excel at turning complex modernization goals into sequenced roadmaps, disciplined backlogs, and measurable results.

  • You understand regulated financial services. You recognize the importance of speed, resilience, controls, auditability, and incident readiness in payments processing.

  • You’re a collaborative leader. You foster alignment across product, technology, architecture, operations, finance, risk, compliance, security, and vendor partners.

  • You have relevant experience. You bring strong experience in payments product leadership, transaction processing, card issuing/processing, or banking platform roles within regulated environments.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
