Electrical & Automation Technician

We are seeking a skilled and technically proficient Electrical & Automation Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and industrial automation equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical and automated systems while minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and automation systems and equipment.
• Diagnose electrical, control, instrumentation, and automation faults and implement effective corrective actions.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical panels, motors, drives, control systems, sensors, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, control panels, sensors, relays, contactors, and industrial communication systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control circuit drawings, and technical documentation.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, testing, and modification of new electrical and automation systems.
• Carry out electrical testing and inspections to ensure equipment operates safely and within required specifications.
• Configure and troubleshoot PLC inputs/outputs, control circuits, and automation components as required.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify potential electrical or automation issues before failures occur.
• Support production and engineering teams during equipment breakdowns and operational issues.
• Perform cable installation, termination, panel wiring, and electrical connections in accordance with approved drawings and standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, repairs, inspections, and spare parts.
• Assist in maintaining adequate stocks of electrical and automation spare parts.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical standards, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Follow lockout/tagout and other required safety procedures when working on electrical equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, automation efficiency, and energy performance.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers when specialized technical support is required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Technician, Automation Technician, Electrical & Automation Technician, or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and automation equipment.
• Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motor control systems, and electrical control panels.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and control wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
• Good understanding of industrial safety procedures and electrical safety standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, or on-call schedules when required.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, or Omron.
• Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience in manufacturing, production, utilities, facilities, or other industrial environments.
• Experience with electrical panel building, commissioning, and machine automation.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and process control systems is an advantage.
