Emergency Medical Services System Educator - CPRH EMS

Overview

Framed within the mission, vision, and values of the Carle Health Peoria EMS System, the EMS System Educator is responsible for developing and facilitating clinical and didactic education for EMS students and EMS Providers. Educational offerings will be developed in collaboration with the EMS Medical Director, Regional EMS Manager, the EMS System Coordinator, and Illinois Central College (ICC). Additionally, continuing education program coordination with system agencies is required. This position is responsible for clinical quality review and quality improvement. The EMS Educator will also serve in support capacity within the comprehensive Emergency Management program.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate EMS System continuing education programs that meet or exceed national standards.
• Collaborate with the EMS Medical Director, Regional EMS Manager, and EMS Coordinator to identify and prioritize learning needs for system members.
• Assist Illinois Central College (ICC) with initial education for all levels of EMS providers and FTI training as requested.
• Maintain proficiency with instructional equipment, including simulation mannequins.
• Function as a team member in hosting NREMT refresher courses.
• Assist with preparation of state testing rosters and initial licensure paperwork.
• Review agency site code submissions and prepare documentation for state submission by the EMS Coordinator.
• Participate in community relations activities through meetings, presentations, and educational courses.
• Provide clinical and didactic instruction or remediation for students and EMS personnel as directed by the EMS Coordinator and/or Medical Director.
• Conduct periodic collaborative visits with EMS System agencies.
• Continually assess the educational needs of the EMS System and ICC.
• Support performance standard updates and interventions as requested.
• Assist with annual protocol testing and skills evaluations.
• Maintain departmental and student confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, state regulations, and employee handbook requirements.
• Conduct EMS clinical quality reviews.
• Maintain clinical competency and professional development in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Lead EMS educational initiatives and identify clinical trends requiring targeted education.
• Actively participate in emergency management activities, including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
• Serve as a liaison between the EMS System, Illinois Central College, and IDPH EMS.
• Maintain flexibility to support the educational needs of night and weekend shift employees.

Qualifications

Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor within 6 months, American Heart Association (AHA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor within 6 months, American Heart Association (AHA)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor within 6 months, American Heart Association (AHA)
• EMS Lead Instructor Certification within 1 year, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
• Licensed Paramedic, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
• Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN), Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
• Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) within 3 years, International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC)
• ICS-100: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 3 months, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
• ICS-200: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 3 months, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
• ICS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
• ICS-800: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Work Experience:

• Experience working in a busy 911 EMS system
• EMS education experience
• Basic computer skills
• Training and development experience
• Report development experience
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) experience and knowledge

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $27.84per hour - $46.49per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
