FEA Engineer/Structural Engineer - ANSYS

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for aiding with the finite element validation, and physical test/FEA correlation activities of various Mechanical systems developed for under and above ground mining equipment’s/vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Help in validating the designs of the mechanical systems associated with their project(s) through finite element practices embracing to concepts of vibrations and fatigue

· Major day-to-day activity will involve FEA modelling and analysis support for engineers at Vancouver.

· Critically review mechanical system

· Effectively communicate and collaborate with project stakeholders to achieve project goals

· Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes

· Prepare technical documentation through FEA reports showcasing failure locations, hypothesis, root cause analysis (RCA) and a possible countermeasure direction

· Identify opportunities for process and design improvement/optimization through finite element validation

· Work alongside others for multiple design iterations and continuous change activity until project success is guaranteed

EXPERIENCE:

· 7-8 years of related industry experience

· Experience with static structural (NL analysis), transient, random vibrations, response spectrum, harmonic response and modal analysis in Ansys.

· Minimum 5 years using above toolboxes in Ansys mechanical is a must.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Ability to understand system schematics and diagrams.

· Ability to adapt to any software related to finite element analysis (FEA)

· Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Logical and methodical approach to problem-solving

· Meticulous attention to detail

· Friendly disposition. Work well with people of various backgrounds, skillsets, demeanors and positions

· An ability and desire to push the boundaries of themselves

· Ability to perform general assembly, fabrication and manufacturing

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:

· Engineering degree, diploma, or similar

· Baseline understanding of mechanical design and GD&T

· In-depth understanding of FEA techniques for pre/solver/post processing using Ansys. Other software experience is a plus

· In-depth understanding of solid/fluid mechanics and various other failure/flow theories

· In-depth knowledge of integrating and simulating battery systems, electric drivetrains, thermal management and other components to create a fully functional vehicle.
