About Wayflyer

Today's small businesses need a capital provider that keeps pace with their growth ambitions. Traditional financing options are slow, cumbersome and often out of reach. That's why we built Wayflyer.

Our technology allows us to assess businesses in minutes, generate financing offers that reflect their growth potential and send funds in as little as 24 hours. To date, we've deployed over $6bn to thousands of businesses worldwide, backed by Tier 1 banks like J.P. Morgan.

You'll be collaborating with ambitious colleagues from around the world. We have offices in Dublin, London, New York, Charlotte, Berlin and Sydney.

The challenge

Wayflyer's Australian Sales team moves fast, and financial crime doesn't take a day off because it's outside business hours in Dublin. We need someone who can sit inside the local team on a 7-month fixed-term contract, catch risk before it becomes a problem, and keep deals moving without cutting corners. This isn't a back-office compliance role. It's the person who makes sure "speed and quality" actually holds up when it counts.

What you'll actually do

You'll be the go-to compliance partner for our Australian Sales team, giving real-time advice and clearing onboarding roadblocks during local hours, no waiting on a time difference. Day to day, you'll investigate customers using internal systems and open-source intelligence to flag financial crime risk, run Customer Due Diligence, and review activity for anything that looks off. You'll support the MLRO in building and running our AML framework across multiple jurisdictions, and you'll be the person people come to with questions on AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery & Corruption. Beyond the day-to-day, you'll keep our record-keeping tight, handle required filings including suspicious activity reports, and push to make our processes sharper wherever you spot a gap. You'll also work closely with Sales and Legal on customer contracts, drafting and updating terms as deals need them.

What this role could turn into

This is a 7-month contract, and we're upfront about that. What you get in return is real ownership from day one: end-to-end ownership of AML for an entire region, direct exposure to the MLRO and senior stakeholders, and a track record you can take into your next role, wherever that is.

Who thrives here

Someone who's genuinely comfortable operating independently, without someone looking over their shoulder for every decision. You're commercially minded, not just risk-averse; you know how to balance protecting the business with keeping deals moving. You explain new concepts clearly to people who aren't compliance experts, and you don't need to be chased to see something through. If you like being the person a whole region relies on, this is your role.

We hire for range

You've got 1-2 years in AML, financial crime, or a related compliance function, and ideally some of that in fintech. What matters more than years is trajectory: are you the person who spots a gap and fixes it, or the person who waits to be told? We're looking for the former.

Location and working policy

📍Sydney 7-month FTC. Hybrid (3-4 days in office)

The good stuff

25 days off, plus public holidays. Private healthcare, life insurance, and a pension.
