Job Summary 

The Formulation Scientist – Stability Specialist manages stability testing for new and existing products to support product shelf-life claims, quality, and consistency. This position tracks and evaluates stability data, responds to shelf-life inquires, and recommends improvements to stability protocols and product formulations. The position works closely with Research & Development, Quality, and Project Management and provides additional formulation support as needed.  
 

Essential Functions 

  • Manages accelerated stability testing for new products and reformulations. 
  • Conduct real-time stability testing for probiotic products and evaluate compliance with established shelf-life claims. 
  • Develop, maintain, and track stability protocols, schedules, records, and results.  
  • Review and analyze stability data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.  
  • Prepare stability reports and provide data-based recommendations related to product shelf life.  
  • Recommend improvements to stability protocols based on study results and product requirements.  
  • Recommend and support formula changes needed to improve product stability-related issues.

 Additional Responsibilities 

  • Manage assigned tasks and priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.  
  • Follow company, department, quality, and safety policies and procedures.  
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records.  
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
     

 Job Qualifications

Physical Requirements 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. 
  • The employee may exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision. 
  • May be exposed to considerable noise from machinery.
