What you'll do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR systems questions and support requests from global HR teams and other internal users, providing responsive, customer-focused assistance.
  • Manage the HR systems support queue by documenting requests, assessing priority and impact, troubleshooting issues, communicating status, and resolving or escalating requests appropriately.
  • Diagnose user, data, configuration, security, workflow, and integration-related issues in partnership with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, IT, and external vendors as needed.
  • Perform approved system configuration and maintenance activities, including updates to workflows, business rules, security roles, notifications, templates, system tables, and other configurable components.
  • Support system implementations, releases, enhancements, and process changes through configuration, functional and regression testing, defect tracking, documentation, communication, and readiness activities.
  • Maintain system documentation and support resources, including knowledge-based articles, troubleshooting guides, configuration records, process instructions, and FAQs.
  • Support system security, data integrity, and compliance by administering approved user access, researching data discrepancies, performing routine audits, and protecting confidential employee information.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data extracts; analyze support and system trends to identify opportunities to improve processes, user experience, data quality, and HR technology adoption.

The Systems Analyst I provides frontline support and foundational system administration for the organization’s global HR technology platforms. This role combines internal customer support, issue resolution, system configuration, testing, documentation, data quality, and reporting responsibilities. The position is expected to develop increasing technical and analytical capability over time. This role is hands-on, requiring direct involvement in all areas of HR and is a resource to business leaders and employees.

Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations or to travel to events.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

Physical Activities: This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.

Requirements

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in an HRIS environment or related HR technologies, plus 3-5 years of business or HR-related experience

Education:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, HR, Communications or related field of study or equivalent working experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 depending on experience
