An excting career opportunity for a proven superintendent on Vancouver Island! With a milestone project under construction, this general contractor is looking for a strong superintendent capable of mentoring others while delivering high quality technical underground infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, The Site Superintendent will be responsible for the management of self-performing and multiple sub-contracted forces, effective use of heavy civil equipment and achieving project milestones while keeping projects on schedule. On the jobsite, they will be responsible for ensuring that projects are being built as per client requirements, construction specifications and adhering to all safety regulations. The main objective of the Site Superintendent will be to deliver the specified work safely, within time, within budget and to the desired level of quality and workmanship. Responsibilities: Supervise and direct construction projects as per contract documents, and maintaining company and industry best practices; Ensure safety standards and protocols are being followed by all site workers and visitors Maintain a daily journal outlining progress, challenges, changes and solutions that could affect the outcome of the project delivery Responsible for all project safety and quality-control on site; Managing all site personnel, equipment usage and rentals as well as materials to ensure that resources are being maximized Analyze specifications and construction drawings and complete/participate in completing construction plan and construction schedule prior to mobilization to project site; Research solutions with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to recommend solutions to design problems, including conflicts, unidentified existing interferences and errors/omissions; Attend and from time to time lead project status meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that project timelines are being kept within reach. Approve daily and weekly hours of direct reports Complete additional assignments and responsibilities as requested by the VP of Operations The main objective of the Project Superintendent will be to deliver the specified work within time, within budget and to the desired level of quality and workmanship. Requirements Engineering Degree (Civil Engineering preferred), or Construction Management Degree and civil experience 10+ years of civil construction experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role Valid Driver’s License Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and use of MS Office, Scheduling Softwares Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Effective time management and organizational skills. Proven ability to priority and manage multiple tasks effectively Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment. Negotiation and conflict management. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills. Ability to meet and adhere to deadlines and work under strict time constraints Driven leader who can support and get the best out of others
