Job Title: Household Manager & Family Assistant with Childcare & Meal Prep Support

Location: Signal Mountain, TN 37377

Employment Type: Part-time; 15–20 hours per week, with potential for expanded hours during summer months.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM (times may vary slightly). Some flexibility for occasional date nights or busier periods. Weekends are not required; minor flexibility is a plus but not expected.

Compensation: $25–$30 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

• Reliable personal transportation

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain upon hire is acceptable.
• Ability to navigate stairs throughout the workday.
• Comfortable with dogs and cats.

About Our Family

We’re a warm, active family of four living on Signal Mountain, a close-knit community just outside Chattanooga. With both parents working demanding, full-time careers in the office and two school-age kids, our afternoons are often the busiest part of the day. Between the bus stop, homework, sports practices, dinner, and two lovable dogs and a cat, there’s always something happening!

We already have a biweekly cleaning team, so this role is less about heavy housekeeping and more about being the steady extra set of hands that keeps our home and family moving. We’d love someone who can step into the afternoon rhythm, anticipate what needs attention, and help create a smooth transition from the school day into the evening.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You’re warm, dependable, and genuinely enjoy spending time with kids and pets. You know how to connect with children while still keeping everyone moving—whether that means getting homework started, making sure sports gear is ready, or helping our kids stay on task when there’s somewhere to be.

You’re also someone who naturally takes initiative. You notice the laundry that needs folding, the pantry item running low, or the kitchen that could use a quick reset and jump in without waiting for a list. You’re organized, a strong time manager, and comfortable shifting gears when an afternoon doesn’t go exactly according to plan.

In the kitchen, you’re confident and creative with simple, family-friendly meals and don’t mind working with a couple of picky eaters (with one important house rule: no cooked broccoli!). Most importantly, you’re looking for a stable, long-term role where you can become a familiar, trusted presence and make everyday family life feel a little easier.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

• Meet children at the bus stop in the afternoon and manage the after-school routine
• Supervise homework and afternoon activities, keeping kids on track and on time
• Transport children to local sports practices and coordinate handoffs as needed
• Serve as backup childcare, including occasional date night coverage
• Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks as needed
• Note: During summer months, opportunity to expand hours and offer more childcare support

Meal Support

• Supporting dinner 3–4 nights per week; meals should be simple, kid-friendly, and approachable
• Cooking styles may include light prep (chopping + marinating), batch prep or crockpot meals depending on the week
• Online grocery shopping and supplemental in-store shopping; put away upon delivery or return
• Comfortable working with picky eaters and able to introduce variety in a low-pressure way
• Handle kitchen clean-up and maintain a tidy cooking space

Laundry & Linens

• Wash, fold, and put away laundry
• Rotate and maintain bed linens
• Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Perform light daily resets in common areas: kitchen, living room, laundry room, and mudroom
• Create and maintain household organization systems and take on organizational projects as needed (closets, pantry, toys, gear)
• Handle seasonal decor swaps, including setup and general holiday prep
• Coordinate donation drop-offs and assist with decluttering
• Unpack after family travel
• Replace batteries, light bulbs, air filters, and similar household maintenance items

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies on an ongoing basis
• Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
• Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-offs, and gift shopping for birthdays, holidays, and special occasions
• Gift wrapping for holidays, birthdays, and other events
• Break down boxes and manage general household errands

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Occasional deep cleans: refrigerator, oven, baseboards, and high-use areas
• Refresh garage, mudroom, and entry areas as needed
• Clean and maintain humidifiers and air purifiers

Pet Care

• Occasional litter tray changes (every few weeks)
• General dog care as needed
• Transport pets to vet or grooming appointments when needed

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Oversee and coordinate with the biweekly cleaning team
• Schedule and oversee contractors, repair services, and other vendors as needed
• Research and gather quotes for household repairs and projects

Administrative Support

• Maintain general awareness of the household calendar and schedule to stay ahead of busy periods and upcoming needs
