About Houston-Galveston Area Council  
 

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.   
We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. What will I be doing? 
  •  Administer employee status changes and personnel actions, ensuring accurate maintenance of employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data
  •  Assist with benefits administration activities as needed, including supporting enrollments, employee status changes, and responses to employee inquiries
  •  Prepare and process check requests and purchase orders
  •  Complete employment verifications, education reimbursement requests, and other HR-related transactions
  •  Coordinate meetings, schedule appointments, and provide logistical support for HR initiatives, training programs, and agency-wide events as needed
  •  Administer employee recognition programs and support employee engagement initiatives and activities
  •  Generate, maintain, and distribute employee reports, HR metrics, and workforce data as requested
  •  Provide administrative support for recruitment and onboarding activities, including coordinating background checks, processing new hire paperwork, supporting orientation activities, and ensuring all onboarding requirements are completed accurately and on time
  •  Conduct periodic audits of personnel records and HR data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards
  •  Assist with HR projects, process improvements, special assignments, and other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals

Key Qualifications 

  •  Background in Human Resources
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Organizational skills and attention to detail
  •  Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  •  Knowledge of HRMS

Preferred Qualifications 

  •  Experience supporting HRIS implementations, system upgrade, data migrations, workflow configuration, testing, and end user training.

Do you have…  

  •  A degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study   
  •  Less than 1 year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school, or in job-related duties
​​​Salary Range-$55,000.00-$62,000.00
