Job Description

Montgomery College, Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus is seeking an outstanding full-time Physical Therapy Assistant faculty member beginning January 2027. We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a strong commitment to health science education and the ability to motivate and engage students to succeed.

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Montgomery College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.  

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, working in a multi-cultural environment, commitment to the community college mission, and have effective oral and written communication skills. Outstanding candidates with a passion for teaching physical therapy are particularly encouraged to apply to join the dedicated faculty of the Montgomery College Allied Health Sciences Department.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campuses and teach online. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. 

 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Teach a variety of didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses within the Physical Therapy Assistant program.  
  • Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes. 
  • Participate in accreditation activities and abide by accreditation guidelines and standards. 
  • Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation. 
  • Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator as needed. 
  • Travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites affiliated with the program. 
  • Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students, participate in course and program assessment, and maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning. 

 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • Active PT license or PTA license  
  • Current Maryland license, in good standing, or eligibility to obtain a Maryland License. 
  • Three (3) years full-time or equivalent post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice in any United States jurisdiction. 
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.  
  • Experience integrating technology into course delivery including the use of a learning management system (LMS). 
  • Experience utilizing high-impact teaching pedagogies to foster student engagement and active learning.  
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.  
  • Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues. 
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree  
  • Experience teaching college-level physical therapy using research-based instructional strategies 
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development and scholarly activities. 
  • Experience supporting students to overcome barriers to academic success. 

 

Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220
