About this role

Position Summary

The Assistant Professor-Course Facilitator is responsible for implementing the approved MCW curriculum and clinical experiences for the assigned Clinical course(s) to meet student educational needs. With support from the Regional Assistant Deans, the facilitator provides high-quality educational activities compliant with LCME and HLC accreditation standards while adhering to state and federal regulations pertaining to education. The Assistant Professor-Course Facilitator provides an innovative and supportive active learning educational environment by providing direction and student support and mentoring. This position is located in Wausau, WI. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to education, clinical care, community engagement and research. 

Position Highlights 

This faculty position encompasses both teaching and administrative duties within several courses. In partnership with faculty, staff, and students, the successful candidate will help ensure students achieve program learning outcomes, progress successfully through the curriculum, engage in a supportive learning environment, and utilize appropriate resources to develop skills in critical thinking and inquiry. 

  • Commitment to excellence in medical education and the institution's educational mission. 

  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including a strategic vision for medical student education and the ability to lead collaborative teams. 

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, learner assessment and remediation, feedback and evaluation skills, career advising, and experience in clinical and didactic instruction. 

  • Experience with curriculum development, educational competencies, instructional methodologies, learner assessment, program evaluation, and faculty development initiatives. 

  • Administrative and committee experience, with the ability to work effectively across departments and organizational units. 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build productive relationships with faculty, students, staff, institutional leaders, and community partners.

Department/Division Highlights  

  • MCW-Central Wisconsin is a regional campus that develops community-focused physicians who will meet the healthcare needs of Central Wisconsin and surrounding regions. The MCW-Central Wisconsin campus features an accelerated 3-year program which provides students with an opportunity to begin practicing medicine one year earlier than traditional programs. The program is community-focused, with students working side-by-side with community physicians at different health systems offering outstanding curricular activities for our learners.

Qualifications  

  • Education: Medical Degree (MD, DO or equivalent), PhD or other terminal degree applicable to course(s) to be taught

  • Additional Experience: Evidence of academic success through the establishment of a national or regional reputation. Previous experience that includes clinical experience facilitation, teaching, curricular committee work, faculty development and/or assessment and evaluation in graduate, medical, or health care professional educational activities, preferred. 

  • Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful finalist.
