At HKA, our Sydney Forensic Accounting & Commercial Damages (FACD) team works on complex matters for lawyers, regulators and businesses across Australia and Asia Pacific. Our work can involve determining the financial impact of a dispute, assessing lost profits or other damages, performing business valuations, investigating financial information, and preparing analysis that may ultimately be presented as expert evidence in court or other proceedings.

The Opportunity

We are offering an 8-week paid internship for penultimate-year students within our Sydney Forensic Accounting & Commercial Damages (FACD) team, commencing in December 2026 and concluding in early February 2027, with a break over Christmas and New Year for our office closure period.

This internship is ideal for those looking to learn about the dynamic field of forensic accounting. You will work alongside experienced forensic accountants and expert witnesses, and have the opportunity to contribute to real client matters.

Depending on the matters you are involved in, you may:

  • Analyse financial records and large datasets to identify trends, anomalies and key issues.

  • Research companies, industries and markets.

  • Assist with financial and damages calculations.

  • Build and develop financial models in Excel.

  • Help assess and interpret complex financial information.
