The Project Control Systems Lead will be responsible for standardising and leading the controls systems design and delivery with third parties on our IPP Power Solution projects. You will manage the delivery of control systems within power station projects, reporting to the project delivery team. This role focuses on coordinating and implementing industrial control system solutions while ensuring seamless integration between equipment vendors, controls contractors, and internal stakeholders. The position plays a crucial role in project execution by managing the technical aspects of control system delivery within the overall project framework.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery and integration of industrial control systems within complex power station projects

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of industrial control systems within project scope

  • Prepare control system scopes of work aligned with project requirements

  • Review and approve control system designs, configurations, and documentation

  • Coordinate closely with project delivery teams, engineering disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment with schedules, technical requirements, and overall project objectives

  • Provide technical leadership across control system design, PLC/SCADA implementation, system architecture validation, testing, and commissioning

  • Support the evaluation and selection of control system contractors

  • Manage day-to-day interactions with controls contractors

  • Coordinate between equipment vendors and controls contractors to ensure seamless integration

  • Manage vendor interfaces and contribute field insights to product development

  • Be accountable for quality, compliance, documentation, and system performance during commissioning.

  • Identify project risks related to control systems

What you will bring

  • A Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical and /or Controls Systems Engineering

  • Deep industrial controls expertise, including PLC’s and SACAD platforms, gained in 5-10 years of experience in industrial control systems

  • Experience with CODESYS and AVEVA PlantSCADA would be advantageous

  • Strong commercial experience relating to vendor selection and relationship management from tender through to commissioning including 3rd party vendors

  • Strong understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols

  • Knowledge of power station / power generation operations and control systems

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations

  • Strong understanding of equipment interfaces and protocols

  • Experience with system integration within larger project contexts

  • Ideally have renewable energy experience, managing the complexity of integrating hybrid systems

  • Track record of successful project delivery in a technical lead role

  • Experience in vendor coordination and management

  • Background in project execution environments
