Underground Project Superintendent

  • Reporting to the Capital Projects Manager, this role is offered on a 5/2, 4/3 days roster.
  • Quarterly STI bonus per annum, subject to performance + Premium Private Health Insurance
  • Be part of an exciting growth phase at KCGM, with new projects and the development of our underground operation at NSR.

 

We are seeking an experienced UG Project Superintendent to lead the safe, disciplined, and effective delivery of high-value underground capital projects. This role is responsible for overseeing project execution from design through to delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with required safety, quality, technical, and operational standards.

The role
will establish and maintain practical project delivery processes, monitor progress and workmanship in the field, identify schedule risks, and implement recovery plans where delays or constraints arise. The UG Project Superintendent will work closely with operations teams, project engineers, contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders to maintain alignment across the underground capital portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or relevant discipline)
  • 10–15+ years of relevant engineering/project management experience.
  • Unrestricted C Class drivers’ licence 
  • Team leadership and conflict resolution
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Strong organizational and multitasking ability
  • Problem-solving and proactive response to project delay and team management
  • Ability to motivate contractors and Project Engineers and maintain accountability
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Negotiation and relationship management
  • Meeting facilitation and reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly)
  • Project management experience (all project levels)
  • Work with independent scheduler for all projects
