About this role

Hire Resolve is assisting legal organisations in hiring experienced legal professionals for multiple mid–senior level opportunities across a range of practice areas and in-house functions within the Netherlands. This is a multi-role hiring campaign designed to attract candidates from corporate and advisory environments, with progression pathways toward senior specialist and leadership roles such as Senior Legal Counsel, Senior Associate, Legal Manager, Head of Legal, Compliance Lead, or Legal Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders and/or clients across operational and strategic matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents (e.g., commercial agreements, supplier/customer contracts, NDAs, service agreements, licensing agreements)
  • Support matters across corporate/commercial, employment, regulatory, disputes, compliance, privacy, procurement, governance, or real estate (aligned to experience)
  • Manage external counsel and service providers, including budgets, timelines, and matter strategy
  • Assist with legal risk assessments and recommend pragmatic mitigations aligned to business objectives
  • Support dispute management, including early case assessment, document preparation, settlement discussions, and litigation oversight where applicable
  • Contribute to compliance programmes, internal controls, and policy development, including monitoring legal and regulatory updates and advising on implementation
  • Maintain accurate legal records, contract repositories, and matter documentation, ensuring confidentiality and appropriate information handling
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, Finance, Procurement, Sales, Operations) to improve legal processes and decision-making
  • Support governance processes, including board and committee documentation where relevant
  • Mentor junior colleagues and promote consistent professional standards and quality

Requirements

  • Qualifications (role-dependent):
    • Master of Laws (LLM) or equivalent legal degree is typical for many legal roles in the Netherlands
    • For advocaat roles: admission to the Dutch Bar (Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten) is required where practising rights apply
    • For in-house counsel, contracts, compliance, or legal operations roles: relevant legal qualification and strong experience are preferred; bar admission may not be required depending on scope
  • Experience: Typically 5–12+ years of progressive legal experience (in-house and/or private practice), aligned to mid–senior level scope
  • Demonstrated capability in one or more areas such as commercial contracts, corporate governance, employment, regulatory, disputes, compliance, privacy/GDPR, or legal operations
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and risk-based judgement
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and systems (where applicable), including document management, contract lifecycle management (CLM), matter management, e-billing, and Microsoft 365
  • Language: Professional fluency in English is required for many international organisations; Dutch is often preferred or required depending on stakeholder environment and documentation
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, work independently, and handle sensitive information with discretion
