What you'll do
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) to produce parts per specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
- Fit and assemble machined parts and dismantle mill maintenance equipment.
- Operate pendant, remote crane, and lift truck as necessary.
- Performs any layout work of parts as required.
- Calculates and determines dimensions, tapers, indices, and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
- Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators).
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Machinist at our East Chicago, Indiana operation. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, quality-driven, and experienced in producing precision parts to print while supporting on-time delivery and continuous improvement.
The role will be part of our United Steelworkers (USW) union compensation, benefits, and pension agreement.
