About this role
A prominent chemical manufacturer based in Little Island, Cork is actively seeking a Maintenance Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis. Based on-site, you will lead and develop the maintenance function, drive equipment reliability, and manage capital and improvement projects across the site. You will provide technical leadership to the maintenance technician and work closely with production, quality, and EHS to ensure reliability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programme to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Supervise and support Maintenance Technicians, allocating work, ensuring quality, and developing team capability.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and documentation of new equipment, including maintenance procedures and operator training.
- Maintain and optimise the CMMS, ensuring accurate maintenance records, calibration schedules, equipment history, and spare parts data.
- Lead engineering change management (ECM), ensuring all modifications are risk assessed, documented, and validated.
- Manage calibration programmes, site utilities, statutory inspections, contractors, and engineering budgets to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement projects focused on OEE, energy efficiency, waste reduction, cost savings, and process performance.
- Support EHS initiatives, risk assessments, incident investigations, and maintain engineering documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance with ISO and FSSC standards.
- Third-level qualification (Level 7/8) in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4–6 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing or process environment, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead maintenance role; chemical, food, or pharmaceutical experience preferred.
- Proven experience managing PPM programmes, CMMS, engineering change management, and equipment commissioning.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and process systems; PLC/SCADA fault-finding desirable.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, PSSR, DSEAR, ATEX, Machinery Directive, and relevant Irish/EU EHS legislation.
- Project management experience delivering capital and continuous improvement projects on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSSC 22000, and engineering compliance requirements, including calibration and maintenance records.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; experience with RCA, FMEA, or RCM and a full clean driving licence desirable.
