Full description from employer

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure — the people who keep the cloud running. This team supports all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You'll work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. You'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The AWS Infrastructure Security Boundary Protection team is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead initiatives and deliver software that protect AWS's operational network across the full device lifecycle—from provisioning through decommissioning.

In this role, you will manage a team of engineers responsible for developing software used for network configuration, vulnerability management, and security validation across AWS's global infrastructure. Your team will develop and work with best-in-class technologies, including:

AI-powered anomaly detection
Machine learning exposure identification
Configuration validation using automated reasoning
Observability platforms
ACL configuration
Security telemetry systems

You will drive the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to transform how we detect, prevent, and respond to security threats at unprecedented scale. Through leadership of your team, partnerships within Infrastructure Security, and relentless customer obsession, you will raise the bar for network security—driving the vision for securing the largest and most complex network in the world using the software your team owns.

AWS leads and innovates, always pursuing the best approach for the business — whether that means building new solutions or leveraging existing ones. You'll operate at massive scale and be held to the highest standards of passion and discipline for information security. The highest level of ownership and accountability is essential for this role.
