  • Read, interpret, and evaluate drawings, models, and designs for assembly and manufacture.
  • Review new technologies to improve capacity/quality.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for management review.
  • Lead improvement projects and give presentations to managers and staff.
  • Support Production with the investigation of complex problems, analyse, and recommend corrective solutions or improvements to ensure proper production flow.
  • Measure and analyse standard times, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure all equipment purchased and commissioned meets specific and corporate specifications and can function within required tolerances and capacity.

Job Description

 

Who will you be working with?

We are seeking an experienced Methods Engineer to join our team at Wabtec UK based in Birkenhead where we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

 

Role: Methods Engineer

Salary: £Competitive

Location: Birkenhead, Wirral, Merseyside (CH41 1LF)

Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00pm and Friday 07:30am to 12:30pm, 37 hours per week 

Contract type: Permanent, Full-Time

 

How will you make a difference?

The key aim of the role is to optimise the assembly and manufacturing process by studying product and manufacturing methods, designing, and delivering robust process flows and work instructions. Provide cost effective manufacturing processes for new and existing programs. The Methods Engineer is the liaison with the Engineering team.

 

What will your typical day look like?

  • This role will serve as a key link between Operations and the Engineering team.
  • Supporting the Operations team in providing cost-effective manufacturing systems for new and existing programs.
  • Optimise the assembly and manufacturing process by studying product and manufacturing methods, then designing and implementing improvements.
  • Design and install tools, fixtures, test rigs, and jigs to assist the manufacturing process.
