What you'll do

  • Manage retail portfolio of power related products including, but not limited to, RA, MTR, capacity, CRRs and any future traded ancillary products
  • Transact bilaterally and on exchange in approved products to hedge and optimize retail portfolio
  • Manage regulatory filings for CAISO RA & MTR
  • Maintain all traded non-energy curves including congestion, capacity and RA related products
  • Support Optimization team by maintaining and providing transactable prices for approved tradable products as well as provide market information to the retail pricing functions, salespersons and customers
  • Build and support models for optimization analysis, managing risk exposure and hedging strategies for retail portfolio
  • Book non-energy trades consisting of a variety of standard and non-standard products in the ETRM
  • Support the retail load forecasting process by further developing associated exposure reporting and stress testing to advance the needs of the retail supply traders
  • Lead variance explanations during actualization process for assigned markets and products
  • Understand and comply with all internal policies as well as those of CFTC, SEC, FERC, and any other regulatory bodies or exchanges
  • Work with internal teams to ensure accurate customer invoicing for responsible products
  • Support sales in customer meetings as subject matter expert on market liquidity, regulatory changes and rest mitigation strategies

  • Bachelor degree required in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, economics, quantitative finance or engineering
  • Mid-level experience in an analytical or commercially focused role
  • Retail supply experience or similar commercial experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO markets, the electric power grid and marketplace, specifically in the CAISO, PJM, or NYISO regions
  • High level of proficiency in Excel VBA and SQL required, python highly preferred
  • Analytical skills required for risk assessment
  • Strong individual contributor with consultative style and aptitude for collaboration and teamwork
  • Skilled at working across multi-disciplinary functions and departments
  • Proficient in collecting, querying, visualizing, organizing and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and drawing logical conclusions
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to adhere to regulatory mandated timelines

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of CAISO RA & MTR regulatory landscape preferred

About the role

The Non-Energy Optimization Specialist will participate in the portfolio management and profitability analysis of the Commercial & Industrial retail electricity portfolio. This individual’s primary responsibilities will be to manage the retail portfolios positions in RA, MTR & Capacity.

Key Responsibilities
