What you'll do

  • Create, maintain and revise controlled mold, process and assembly specification files, including machine set-up parameters, preparation cards, deflash specification cards and work instructions.
  • Develop, validate and improve manufacturing methods for molding, secondary operations and complex assembly equipment, including multi-station, automated, semi-automated, fixture-based or poka-yoke controlled processes.
  • Sample new molds, tools, fixtures and assembly equipment; define process windows, confirm repeatability and release practical set-up instructions for production use.
  • Analyze scrap, downtime, quality concerns and process variation using appropriate data and statistical methods; implement corrective actions that improve quality, throughput and cost.
  • Partner with planning, design, quality, maintenance, machine shop and mold shop teams to resolve product, tooling, equipment, fixture, tolerance, material and processability issues.
  • Support complex assembly equipment readiness, including fixture design input, changeover methods, sensor/interlock verification, error-proofing concepts, ergonomic considerations and production trial feedback.
  • Coordinate tooling and fixture repairs or revisions with the mold shop and machine shop, including minor tool repairs within capability and escalation of more complex repairs.
  • Train and support molders, operators and production leads on revised set-ups, process changes, work instructions, and safe operating methods.
  • Maintain current external engineering standards applicable to the manufacturing location and ensure controlled documentation reflects valid revision levels.
  • Exercise responsibility for final part quality by stopping or escalating processes that produce discrepant material, in line with site quality and safety expectations.
