About this role

Liquid Personnel is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Children’s Community OT Service.

This is a highly flexible role offering strong leadership, support, and the opportunity to work within a well-structured Local Authority setting supporting children and young people with disabilities in the community.

What will your responsibilities be? 

  • Assess children and young people with disabilities within home and community settings
  • Provide recommendations for specialist equipment and housing adaptations
  • Complete moving and handling assessments and provide safe solutions
  • Interpret technical drawings and housing plans for adaptations
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, housing, and health professionals
  • Ensure compliance with relevant children’s legislation and housing legislation
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning

Desirable:  

  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities
  • Additional training such as:
    • Manual Handling
    • Fieldwork Educator
    • Relevant in-service training

Key Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Understanding of Local Authority structures and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of eligibility criteria for equipment and adaptations
  • Ability to interpret technical plans and housing layouts
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
  • Experience completing formal moving & handling assessments

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience
  • Experience working within a community setting
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Children’s legislation and Local Authority responsibilities
    • Housing adaptations and specialist equipment
    • Moving and Handling practices and Health & Safety legislation
