About this role

Liquid Personnel is recruiting Occupational Therapist for its client's Community Equipment Service Team at Solihull.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an OT with strong community equipment, physical disability, moving and handling and multidisciplinary experience, providing specialist clinical advice and supporting the safe, effective and cost-efficient provision of equipment across health and social care.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Provide a primary point of clinical contact for the Community Equipment Service, offering specialist Occupational Therapy advice to health and social care practitioners
  • Assess and review service users’ needs and make evidence-based recommendations for standard and non-standard community equipment
  • Provide professional advice and constructive challenge to prescribers, ensuring existing equipment and stock are fully utilised wherever appropriate
  • Complete and support specialist assessments involving hoists, standing frames, sliding sheets/boards and other complex equipment
  • Review equipment provision and identify when equipment is no longer required, supporting its safe return, servicing and re-use
  • Manage referrals and waiting lists for non-standard equipment through effective triage and liaison with referring professionals
  • Support the development of integrated pathways and consistent assessment processes across health and social care
  • Provide training, advice and presentations to practitioners to improve knowledge and confidence around specialist community equipment
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, families, health professionals, social care colleagues, suppliers and external agencies
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, risk management, policy development and service improvement initiatives
  • Provide professional supervision, guidance and support to staff, students and less experienced practitioners where required
  • Support the cost-effective management of high-value and complex equipment while maintaining a strong focus on safety and positive outcomes for service users
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records and manage workload effectively in line with service priorities

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

  • Occupational Therapy Degree/Diploma
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Experience working with people with physical disabilities and complex functional needs
  • Experience assessing, reviewing and prescribing community equipment
  • Strong knowledge of moving and handling equipment, including hoists, standing frames and sliding sheets/boards
  • Excellent clinical reasoning, risk management and evidence-based decision-making skills
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary health and social care environment
  • Ability to professionally challenge and advise other practitioners where required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a demanding workload and work independently
