About this role

Liquid Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the Children with Disabilities Team at Wokingham Borough Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with disabilities by carrying out specialist assessments, recommending equipment and adaptations, and helping families create safer, more accessible home environments.

You'll work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, collaborating with social workers, health professionals, housing teams and equipment providers to deliver life-changing interventions. 

What will your responsibilities be? 

  • Assess children and young people to identify functional needs and promote independence
  • Develop person-centred action plans to reduce risk and improve daily living
  • Assess, prescribe and review specialist equipment
  • Recommend and oversee minor and major home adaptations
  • Complete housing needs reports to support medical priority rehousing
  • Liaise with surveyors, architects, builders and grants officers to ensure adaptations meet assessed needs
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate case records, assessments and care plans
  • Undertake home visits and property visits across the borough

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist within a Local Authority
  • Experience assessing for specialist and complex equipment
  • Experience managing major and minor adaptations from assessment through to completion
  • Ability to interpret architects' plans and provide creative solutions
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
