About this role

The Team


This is an excellent opportunity to join a global law firm within one of the UK's largest Regulatory Crime teams, recognised by both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.

Working as part of a close-knit and highly regarded team, you will have the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in this fascinating area of law while supporting a varied and often high-profile caseload. This role offers exposure to a broad range of regulatory matters, including:

  • Corporate Manslaughter
  • Health & Safety offences
  • Environmental crime
  • Regulatory investigations and prosecutions

Our lawyers provide nationwide support to a diverse client base, including corporate organisations, insurers, and public sector bodies. You will work closely with Associates and senior lawyers, assisting with cases from the initial investigation stage through to enforcement action and conclusion before the Criminal Courts.


About the Role

This is a hands-on and varied role that will involve supporting clients in the immediate aftermath of serious incidents and throughout the lifecycle of a case.

Responsibilities will include:


  • Attending incident sites and assisting with investigations
  • Taking client instructions
  • Drafting witness statements and legal correspondence
  • Obtaining and reviewing expert reports
  • Instructing Counsel
  • Preparing letters of advice and representations
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies including the HSE, Local Authorities and Police
  • Attending Magistrates', Crown and Coroners' Courts

The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented and able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines. Strong IT skills and a willingness to travel across the UK are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with a caseload of SHE & Regulatory matters.
  • Prepare court bundles and related documentation.
  • Draft letters of instruction, requests for information and Instructions to Counsel.
  • Prepare briefing notes, action plans, attendance notes and file notes.
  • Review reports, witness statements and other case documents.
  • Draft and review legal documents and correspondence.
  • Liaise with clients and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Conduct legal research and stay up to date with legal developments and industry best practice.
  • Effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate file management systems and spreadsheets.
  • Support the team with ad hoc tasks as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous Paralegal experience, ideally within litigation, regulatory, criminal or insurance-related matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and case management systems.
  • Flexible approach with a willingness to travel when required.
