About this role

Shape the Future of Energy

At ERM, we're offering more than a leadership role. We're offering a seat at the table where major energy investments are conceived, permitted, and delivered.

As a Partner in our Capital Project Development team, you'll help define the future of energy infrastructure across North America, guiding some of the industry's most significant capital projects from concept through execution. You'll join a purpose-driven global firm with equity ownership, strategic influence, and the platform to grow both your business and your impact.

Why This Opportunity Matters

As a senior leader within ERM's Capital Project Development business, you will help clients navigate complex environmental, regulatory, and stakeholder challenges that determine whether major projects move forward successfully.

Working with leading upstream and midstream energy companies, you'll influence critical investment decisions, shape permitting strategies, and help deliver sustainable, resilient infrastructure across the Great Lakes Northeast and beyond.

What Your Impact Is

Lead Strategic Growth

  • Expand ERM's presence within the energy sector, focusing on capital project development for upstream and midstream oil & gas clients.

  • Develop and strengthen executive-level client relationships that generate long-term growth.

Serve as a Trusted Advisor

  • Partner with C-suite and senior executives on environmental, permitting, and value creation strategies.

  • Guide clients through complex regulatory and stakeholder environments.

Deliver Project-Critical Solutions

  • Lead environmental and social strategies that de-risk capital projects and accelerate delivery.

  • Help clients anticipate constraints, resolve uncertainties, and secure project approvals.

Build High-Performing Teams

  • Mentor and develop consultants and emerging leaders.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and commercial success.

Drive Business Impact

  • Leverage your industry relationships and market insights to identify opportunities, win work, and expand key accounts.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, with a strong focus on the Energy sector, and oil and gas clients in particular.

  • Proven track record of delivering multi-million-dollar programs and driving commercial growth.

  • Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, permitting processes, and stakeholder dynamics in the energy industry.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate complex challenges into actionable, enterprise-wide solutions.

  • Demonstrated success building trusted relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders.

  • Exceptional leadership, business development, and client management capabilities.

Preferred

  • Existing client relationships within the Great Lakes Northeast energy market.

  • Experience with FERC-regulated natural gas projects.

  • Established reputation within the energy industry and involvement in relevant professional or technical organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client account development, sales, and delivery of ERM's full suite of consulting services.

  • Collaborate with regional and global leadership to shape go-to-market strategies for energy and low-carbon economy projects.

  • Identify and pursue high-potential opportunities, aligning ERM's capabilities with client needs.

  • Ensure project success through rigorous planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Represent ERM in technical communities and industry forums, contributing thought leadership and innovation.

  • Uphold ERM's commitment to health & safety, quality, and sustainability in every engagement.

  • Develop and execute growth strategies that strengthen ERM's position within the traditional energy sector.

  • Mentor consultants and project teams while fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
