About this role

We are currently searching for a skilled and motivated individual to join our client team as a Port Captain with a major company based in Singapore or India.

As a Port Captain, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and cost-effective operation . Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:

Job Description: Port Capt (Technical Team)

The Company is looking for an experienced maritime professional to join our Technical Team. This role is pivotal in providing high-level technical advice, supercargo services, and chemical product support to our global fleet and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations & Supercargo Services

  • Provide expert remote and on-site cleaning and technical advice to vessel crews.
  • Perform Supercargo services onboard, managing various cleaning operations from "dirty to clean" and achieving "water white" to "wall wash" standards.
  • Board vessels to provide hands-on product usage support and troubleshooting.
  • Handle client queries regarding cleaning procedures, product applications, and technical complaints.

Commercial & Sales Support

  • Support chemical sales by joining commercial teams during client visits to provide technical expertise.
  • Act as a technical bridge between the sales team and the end-user (vessel crew/owners).

R&D, Innovation & Training

  • Serve as a primary advisor to the Company’s R&D group regarding the practical application of chemicals and onboard cleaning procedures.
  • Join vessels to test newly developed products, evaluating their "clean-ability" and overall effectiveness.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions on chemicals, equipment, and cleaning protocols for both in-house staff and client/vessel crews.

General Technical Management

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the full Company product range to advise internal teams and clients effectively.
  • Travel frequently as required for onboard jobs and site visits.
  • Assist with various ad-hoc technical and commercial tasks as needed.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of tank cleaning experience, either onboard or in a Supercargo capacity.
  • Proven experience cleaning various grades, including CPP, Palm Oils, and Dirty Cargoes.
  • Previous experience sailing as Chief Officer (C/O) or Master is highly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of chemical tanker operations and the handling of tank cleaning chemicals.

Soft Skills & Communication

  • Excellent command of English (both verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with multicultural teams and diverse crews.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Professional Attributes

Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player who can guide others with their knowledge.

Prior experience working in a corporate environment and proficiency in professional email communication is a significant advantage.
